Why doesn’t high school track get the same coverage in the Sun Journal as the other high school sports, such as hockey, football, basketball, baseball and even cheerleading? The youngsters who run track train just as hard as all the others. Track meets only get the results printed, seldom is there a photo unless it is a state meet.

There are track meets every week, the same as other team sports. Are the sports reporters just not interested in track events? There was the KVAC championships and not one photo in the Sun Journal. The state meet had a story and two photos. Yet on March 11, there were four photos about hockey.

I love all sports, but I think the track athletes deserve some of the same coverage.

The spring track season begins shortly. It would be nice to see an even amount of coverage for those participants. There are a lot of good runners in the Lewiston-Auburn area. There is an Oxford Hills runner with a handicap who is a remarkable athlete. The Sun Journal should check them out.
