NEW PORTLAND – Daniel Lee Ross, 40, died unexpectedly Friday, March 18, in New Portland.

He was born Jan. 16, 1965, in Farmington, the son of Willis and Geneva (Chick) Ross.

“Dan” grew up in Phillips where he attended Phillips schools.

He married Rebecca L. Bachelder Nov. 13, 1999 in Stratton.

He was currently employed as a truck driver for Hammond Lumber Co. of Farmington.

Dan loved reading to and taking walks with his sons, fishing with his brothers, and camping with his family. He also enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Red Sox fan.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca L. Ross, of New Portland; his three children, Craig, Matthew and Ethan of New Portland; his mother, Geneva Coates and her husband, Richard, of Livermore Falls; brothers, Jim Ross Sr. and his wife, Joella, of Phillips, Freeman Ross Sr. of Lewiston, William Ross and his wife, Maria, of Wilton, and Skip Ross and his wife, Mary, of Livermore; nieces and nephews, Arnold, Anna, Josh, Brandon, Dillon, Freeman Jr., Erica, Jessica, Clifford, Danny, and Jim Jr.; a lifelong friend, Alan Austin; and special friend, Jacey Davenport.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Daisy Ross.
