RUMFORD – A kickoff and open house for the spring fitness program, which is a free self-tracking exercise program, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Mountain Valley High School cafeteria. The storm date will be Tuesday, March 22.

Healthy snacks will be provided, along with door prizes. It is an opportunity to find out about local physical activity and wellness resources in the area. The program will be held from Monday, March 21, through Friday, May 13.

Adults and high school students who live in the following towns are eligible to participate: Rumford, Mexico, Andover, Greenwood, Hanover, Dixfield, Carthage, Peru, Roxbury, Newry, Bethel, Bryant Pond, Byron, Canton, Albany, Milton Township, Gilead and Woodstock.

People can sign up individually or as part of a work-place team. Registration deadline is Monday, March 21. It’s sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities’ Project NOW. For more information, people can call 364-7408.

Meeting change

MEXICO – Due to unforeseen change of plans, the Mexico Historical Society meeting being held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, will convene at the Mexico Historical Society Home, 3 Oxford St., instead of in the Calvin Lyons meeting room.
