FARMINGTON – Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street will hold a special service commemorating the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24.

The Rev. Dr. Susan Crane will offer a meditation on being a “suffering servant” based on Isaiah 53. Following communion, deacons will read scripture passages and extinguish candles in a Tenebrae ritual, symbolizing the “lengthening of the shadows.” Special music will be sung by the Rev. Alan Shumway. All are welcome at the service of remembrance.

The congregation will join the ecumenical services for Good Friday at noon March 25 at Old South Congregational Church and for the Easter Sunrise service at approximately 5:25 a.m. Sunday, March 27, on Voter Hill.

The congregation will celebrate the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 27, at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, corner of Academy and Main streets. Everyone is welcome.

Crane will deliver a message on “Looking for Jesus?” and special music will be sung by the adult and children’s choirs, under the direction of Daniel Woodward and accompanied by Robin Barron, organist. Easter week

WILTON – Easter week services at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, will begin with a Maundy Thursday light supper and table worship at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 24.

A Good Friday evening service will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, and includes a Service of Shadows held with cooperating churches of the Wilton Ecumenical Ministry.

An Easter sunrise service will begin at the time of sunrise Sunday, March 27, at 211 Orchard Drive, near the Colby Miller Road. Breakfast will follow at First Congregational Church.

Easter Sunday worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at the church located on Main Street, downtown Wilton.

Easter services

FARMINGTON – Holy Week and Easter services at Fairbanks Union Church, a Presbyterian Church, includes a Maundy Thursday service of communion and Tenebrae starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24. The service remembers Jesus washing the feet of the disciples and sharing a last supper with them. In the service of Tenebrae, those attending will walk with Jesus on the road to the cross.

The congregation will join the ecumenical service for Good Friday starting at noon March 25 at Old South Congregational Church and again for the sunrise service Easter morning at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Voter Hill between the Berry Farm and Paul Taylor’s residence. A light breakfast will be served at the Taylor home after the service.

The Fairbanks congregation will then gather to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord at an Easter morning service filled with song and celebration at 9 a.m. at the church on Fairbanks Road.

Ecumenical events

WILTON – The churches of the Wilton Ecumenical Ministry will host a Good Friday evening service and an Easter sunrise service.

The Good Friday service will be held at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ at 7 p.m. March 25. The service will follow the tradition of the Tenebrae, or Shadows, worship, which is a candlelight worship with readings and hymns.

On Easter morning, at the time of sunrise, there will be an outdoor Easter sunrise service at 211 Orchard Drive. The service will be held rain or shine. A free breakfast will follow at the First Congregational Church on Main Street. All are welcome to attend these services.
