LEWISTON – Officer Hart L. Daley on Monday was named domestic violence coordinator for the Lewiston Police Department. He replaces Officer Alice French.

“This is a step up for him,” said Sgt. James Rioux. Daley will track domestic violence cases in Lewiston, working with victims and other agencies and making sure that offenders do not repeat their violence.

Daley came to Lewiston two years ago, after 11 years with the Rumford Police Department. He served as a sergeant there and was awarded the Silver Star for bravery in 1997. He is certified to instruct in firearms, less-than-lethal munitions and progressive restraints, as well as weapons armor. He is also a Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified Intoxilyzer operator and a drug recognition examiner.

“I look forward to being able to utilize my experience and devote my attention to addressing the problem of domestic violence in our community,” Daley said in a statement.
