WILTON – On the agenda for the selectmen’s meeting tonight are discussions about a Community Development Block Grant, plans for a former elementary school and a zoning ordinance violation.
Representatives from Nichols Development will ask selectmen to support them in a bid for a Community Development Block Grant of more than $100,000. Town Manager Peter Nielsen did not know the exact amount of the proposed matching grant, but said all matching funds would come from the private sector, not the town’s coffers.
Rick Batt, president of Franklin County Health Network, will be present to discuss property at 24 School St., a former elementary school, currently housing Evergreen Behavioral Services. The property is owned by SAD 9 and leased to the network, but the school district may offer the building to the town. With its acquisition, the town will need to decide if it would like to continue renting to the network or if the building could serve another purpose.
Selectmen will discuss action to be taken against Raymond Cardova, who built a basement bulkhead too close to the side yard setback on his property at 11 Maple St. Code Enforcement Officer Paul Montague is recommending that a fine be levied, according to Nielsen, but selectmen could also ask Cardova to move the bulkhead.
