I am appalled that once again America’s poor could be victimized by their own government. If the president and his supporters had their way, the Republican budget would have passed before critics could point out the massive program cuts, the corporate giveaways and the addition of more than $400 billion to our national debt.
The richest Americans would get their permanent tax breaks, and there would be gigantic cuts in health care (Medicaid especially) and in education, while programs that deserve to be cut such as the miserably failed “Star Wars” missile defense system would have continued to be financed.
The next time the president hints that God has put him into office or given him a mandate, I sincerely hope people will ask him how he can justify blatantly robbing from the poor to give to the rich. Didn’t Jesus say, “Feed my sheep?”
