LEWISTON – A city man was charged Tuesday with robbing a delivery man of his pizza and chicken wings, police said.

Benjamin Quinn, 18, of 64 Oxford St., was charged with robbery and held at Androscoggin County jail on $10,000 bail.

Quinn is accused of calling in the order to be delivered to a Blake Street apartment and lurking in the shadows shortly after midnight for the delivery man, police Lt. Michael McGonagle said.

“It appears that this was a set-up,” McGonagle said in a news release.

After unsuccessfully delivering the food at that address, the delivery man was walking back to his vehicle when Quinn struck him with a brick, McGonagle said. Quinn tried to grab the food, which the man dropped, he added.

The blow left a bruise on the delivery man’s head, police said. He declined medical treatment.

While on patrol, police Officer Corey Jacques observed Quinn acting suspiciously, McGonagle said. Jacques waited until the man attempted to deliver the pizza and intervened, restraining and handcuffing Quinn when he tried to grab the food, McGonagle said.
