SOUTH PORTLAND – The Learning Disabilities Association of Maine annual conference will be held Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9, at the Sheraton Hotel. “Education for All Individuals” is the theme.

Donald Deshler, PhD, will give the keynote speech, “What’s at the Core of Quality Teaching?,” at 9 a.m. Saturday. Deshler is a professional advisor for the National Center for Learning Disabilities and author of “Teaching Content To All” and “Teaching Every Adolescent Every Day.” He will present a workshop, “Closing the Performance Gap with the Content Literacy Continuum.”

A total of 24 workshops will be offered during the two-day conference.

The deadline for preregistration is Saturday, April 2. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.

Sewing guild

AUBURN – The American Sewing Guild will hold an organizational meeting at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Craft Mania, Center Street.

Those who attend will learn what offices need to be filled and can suggest a name for the group.

There will be refreshments and a free craft demonstration.
