I would like to see President Bush propose to Congress that all military veterans who have been stationed in the current war zones and who are now leaving the military service be awarded and qualify for the GI Bill of Rights. It was a former law, which must be reactivated and passed by Congress and approved by the president, for our brave men and women who have served their country so proudly in the Middle East and other areas of the world.

The GI Bill of Rights was the greatest single benefit veterans of World War II ever received from their country when they left the service. They would receive free four years of college or technical school education of their choice plus on-the-job training opportunities in any field they select. It would provide them with the chance to receive very low interest rates and low down payments and mortgages to buy decent homes for themselves and their families. It could help provide them with meaningful employment openings.

There are many other benefits for the former military veterans, which were included in the original GI Bill of Rights.

It would help our veterans greatly having the full public support for the resurgence of the GI Bill of Rights law, with the approval of the American public, Congress and our good president.
