BOSTON (AP) – The Coast Guard was assisting a disabled Portsmouth, N.H.-based fishing vessel on Wednesday.
“They’re not in danger. We’re in constant communications with them,” Petty Officer Lisa Hennings said of the four crew members aboard the 44-foot Avatar, which reported problems with its transmission at about 11:20 a.m.
The Boston-based, 270-foot Coast Guard cutter Spencer was headed to the scene, about 150 nautical miles from Boston, and was expected to arrive at about 8 p.m.
Seas at the scene were at about five feet Wednesday afternoon, Hennings said.
