LEWISTON – Jeanne “Rita” Lamontagne, 86, of Second Street in Auburn, died Tuesday evening, March 22, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center with her family at her side.

She was born in Auburn, Nov. 9, 1918, a daughter of Alfred and Georgianna (Larcher) Carrier. She was educated in Auburn schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

On Oct. 29, 1945, she married Ernest Lamontagne and she worked as a homemaker as she and her husband raised their children. She was a member of St. Louis Church, Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, the New Auburn Senior Citizens and Holy Cross Seniors. She enjoyed fun times with her grandchildren, as well as cooking and traveling. She especially loved bus trips with the Holy Cross Seniors.

She leaves her husband of 59 years, Ernest Lamontagne of Auburn; three sons, Paul Lamontagne of Falmouth, Donald Lamontagne and his wife, Gisele, of Auburn and Normand Lamontagne and his fiancee, Sandra Gendron, of Lewiston; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Jason, Steven, Jill and Jenna Lamontagne; and three great-grandchildren, Ema, Jacob and Samuel Lamontagne.

She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
