BERLIN, N.H. – Beatrice Mildred Lambert, 93, passed away Wednesday, March 23, at the Coos County Nursing Home.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., Sept. 3, 1911, the daughter of Octave J. and Mary (Bussiere) Lambert. She graduated from St. Regis Academy in 1927 and from Berlin High School in 1929.

She worked for NRA under Alf Halvorson and then she worked as bookkeeper for the welfare department of the city of Berlin for 42 years, retiring in 1976.

Along with the Class of 1929, she took part in a pageant at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the city. On the 150th anniversary, she was chairman of the queen contest and coronation.

She was a charter member of the Mt. Forist Camera Club. She was also a charter member of the Joiette Snowshoe Club, of which she was still an honorary member. She was also a member of the Berlin Business and Professional Women’s Club for 35 years, serving as secretary for two terms. She was always interested in politics and served as co-chairman of the Young GOP Guard for Coos County under Gov. Styles Bridges.

She loved and was a supportive sports fan, even going to Toledo, Ohio with the Berlin Maroons when they played there for the national title. She was secretary of the Berlin Maroons Hockey Club for 15 years. She was the first woman elected director from New Hampshire to the New England Amateur Hockey Association, where she served for two years. She then became secretary of the organization and she served for eight years. In 1968, she was awarded a plaque naming her “Miss Hockey of New England” from the United States Amateur Hockey Association. She was secretary of the Berlin Athletic Booster Club for 25 years.

She represented St. Anne’s Parish with the Friends of Catholic Schools, she worked the white elephant table at the parish penny sale for years and she was a member of the Club Sociale of St. Anne’s. She was also a member of the Northern Lites Club, Golden Age Club and Mesh.

She leaves cousins and many good friends.
