BATH – Some of Maine’s best fiddlers will appear in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at The Chocolate Church Arts Center.
Maine is blessed with some of the best traditional old-time fiddlers found anywhere, according to the center’s spokesman. This concert features fiddlers who participate as instructors each year for Maine Fiddle Camp, which was founded in 1994 by Greg Boardman, a fiddle and violin teacher from Lewiston.
The focus of Maine Fiddle Camp and of this concert is the “Downeast” style, which includes French Canadian, Irish, Scottish and Scandinavian influences.
Musicians will include the Old Grey Goose Band, Don and Cindy Roy, Tim Farrel, Carter and Kaity Newell, John and Ellen Gawler, George Fowler, John Pranio, Greg Boardman, Elaine Malkin, Jeff Mckeen, Sharon Pyne, Doug Protsik, Hank Washburn, Steve Muise, Jennifer Armstrong, and Dudley and Jackie Laufman.
Tickets for the Maine Fiddlers Concert are $10 for arts center members, $12 in advance for general admission or $14 at the door. They may be purchased by calling the arts center, 442-8455.
