As an advocate for gun control, I am horrified by the reports of the shooting, death and injury of children by disturbed teenagers, factory and office personnel by disgruntled workers, women by estranged husbands and police by armed felons. I believe society is facing a crisis of increasing violence, which is aggravated by easy access to lethal weapons, especially handguns.
We should demand, through the political process, that both state and federal legislative bodies give urgent consideration to this very serious problem.
