MEXICO – Police closed their investigation into Wednesday’s freak accident that killed a 13-year-old Mexico boy who was helping his father check transmission fluid in a pickup truck.
Investigating Patrolman Michael Richard said Friday afternoon that Tyler Ronald Larsen died instantly after being pinned between a 1986 GMC pickup truck and a workbench in a garage at the home of his father, Ronald C. Larsen, on Backkingdom Road.
Richard said he concluded that the truck, which has an automatic transmission, was left in neutral. He said he believes that the pickup rolled down the garage floor’s slight incline when Ronald Larsen reached in and grabbed the ignition key.
No mechanical defects were found in the truck, Richard added.
