TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) – Arizona State junior forward Ike Diogu made himself eligible for the NBA draft Monday, following a season in which he led the Pac-10 in scoring and rebounding.

The 6-foot-8 Diogu hasn’t hired an agent and could return to Arizona State if he decides not to turn pro. He has until June 21 to remove his name from draft consideration.

Diogu won’t attend any draft camps, but will participate in private workouts for interested teams. Sun Devils coach Rob Evans agreed with Diogu’s decision.

“He needs to explore his options at this time, and the NBA has a very good program to help him,” Evans said. “Arizona State is behind him, and we are going to do whatever Ike feels is best for him and his family.”

Diogu, a second-team All-American and the Pac-10’s player of the year, had a conference-best 22.6 point scoring average and led the Pac-10 in rebounding at 9.8. He had 15 double-doubles and six of his 11 career 30-point games this season. He also scored in double figures in all 91 of his career games.

Diogu set the Pac-10 record for free throws made in 2003-04 with 243, then extended the record to 248 this season. With 671 career free throws, he trails only UCLA’s Don MacLean, who made 711 in four seasons ending in 1992. His 854 attempts is second to Stanford’s Adam Keefe (886, also from 1988-92).
