LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s will host a gathering of La Rencontre at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 1.

The group of approximately 175 people will hear the music of two Maine fiddlers, Erica Brown of Lewiston, and Donald Roy of Portland. Brown is a former student of Roy and on April 1 they will reunite to play at the center, 46 Cedar St.

Both have their own groups – Brown and friends play mostly bluegrass music while Roy is in a trio that plays primarily French Canadian music.

The meal will be a boiled dinner and the price is $6.50 a person. The goal of the gathering is to speak only French throughout the two-hour program.
