FORT MEYERS, Fla. — The University of Southern Maine Huskies rode two stellar pitching performances and notched 25 hits over two games to sweep D’Youville College, Monday in Fort Meyers, Florida.

Southern Maine downed D’Youville 9-1 in its first game and then pounded out eight runs in five innings to shut out D’Youville 8-0 in the second.

In the first game senior Melissa Henderson fanned a school single-game record 15 batters to earn her third win of the season.

Henderson gave up just one hit and allowed no walks to lead the Huskies and improve here record to 3-1.

Caterina Riitano and Kim Lipman provided two RBI each to help notch the win.

In the second game junior Katie Mainville pitched a solid game with seven strikeouts and no walks while limiting D’Youville to three hits for the shutout.

The Huskies improve to 5-3 on the season while D’Youville falls to 2-9.
