SABATTUS – The American Legion Androscoggin County Auxiliary will hold a bean and casserole supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Harry J. Conway Post 135, Island Road. Cost is $5 a person, $2.50 for 10 and under and free, 5 and under.

Auxiliary members are asked to bring casseroles, pastry and other items. They should call President Julie Rowe at 345-9510 to let her know they are donating. Proceeds will be used to benefit the county and its programs.

Rosary Sodality

LEWISTON – The Rosary Sodality of St. Patrick’s Church will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5. Recitation of the Rosary will be held in the chapel followed by the meeting in Msgr. Gleason Hall. Plans for the April 12 card party will be finalized. A penny sale will follow. Coffee and dessert will be served by Nicole LaBonte and her committee.

Food for thought

LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, April 8, will feature a presentation by Leonard Brooks titled “Shaker Life Today.”

Brooks is director of the Shaker Museum and Shaker Library at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester.

The program will be held in the function room at USM/Lewiston-Auburn beginning at noon. The cost, which includes lunch, is $5 with advance reservation or $7 at the door. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m., and reservations may be made at 753-6510 or online at www.usm.maine.edu/lac by Thursday, April 7.

Roller skating

LISBON – Lisbon Community School will hold family roller skating, sponsored by the school Parent-Teacher Organization, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Howard Sports, Route 201, Topsham. Admission is $4 a person at the door.

All students, family and friends are welcome. Parents must accompany the child/children during the entire event. Parents should respond by Friday, April 1.

LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet on Monday, April 4, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon by a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 28 were: N/S, first, Pete Cummings and Dick Allen, first overall; second, Lue Bilodeau and Roger Briggs, fourth overall; third, Anna Vitiello and Randy Silver, fifth overall; fourth, Betty and Doug Sise, first in B, third overall in B; fifth, Barbara Beegel and Charlie Bartlett, second in B.

Scrabble teams

AUBURN – Literacy Volunteers is looking for Scrabble teams for the seventh annual Letters for Literacy being held from 1 to 4 p.m Sunday, April 17, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 14 Great Falls Plaza.

Those interested can form a four-person team for fun or as pros and register by Monday, April 11. The team should collect a minimum of $40 in pledges.

Top fund-raiser awards will include original watercolor paintings, restaurant certificates and other prizes. A 50-50 drawing will also be held.

All proceeds help provide literacy services in Androscoggin County. Call 753-1772 to preregister.
