LEWISTON – Brian Michaud, a senior at Lewiston High School, has been selected as the winner of the DAR Good Citizen Award and Good Citizenship Medal Award.

He is the son of Norman and Debbie Michaud of Lewiston.

The DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree. The selection of the DAR Patriotism Medal winner is based on excellence in acts of service, courage, leadership, honor and patriotism.

DAR Good Citizens who enter the scholarship contest are eligible for the awards beyond the chapter level. Each state winner receives a cash award in the amount of at least $250 (or a savings bond) and a special State DAR Good Citizen pin and certificate.

The national winner will be invited to Washington, D.C., to attend DAR Continental Congress and be awarded a $3,000 scholarship, an inscribed silver bowl and a National DAR Good Citizen pin and certificate.

The national second-place winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and certificate, and the third-place winner will receive a $750 scholarship and certificate. Each of the nine national division (multi-state groups) winners will receive a cash award in the amount of $500.
