LISBON – The Lisbon Falls Community Library remained closed Wednesday due to damage caused when a pickup truck ran through the front of the Main Street building on Easter Sunday.

Damage is still being assessed.

Local contractor Roger Roy has been hired as the general contractor, library director Diane Nadeau said, and will subcontract for specialized work.

Roy has hired Portland Plate Glass to replace the large front window, and David Michaud for masonry work on a front wall. An electrician is yet to be selected.

Nadeau said Stephanie Leighton of the nearby Teen Center has offered space in that building to store 30 boxes of books and shelving that had to be moved to make room for contractors.

The date that the library will reopen on a limited basis will depend on how soon a temporary wall can be erected to separate the public area from the work area, Nadeau said. Even then, there will be no inside access to the lower level, she added.

The total cost for repairs has not yet been determined.
