LIVERMORE – Michael L. Phelan, 61, a resident of Tessier Road in Livermore, died Wednesday, March 30, at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston on June 8, 1943, the son of Wallace and Rita Vachon Phelan and attended Sabattus High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1964.

On May 21, 1966, he married the former Constance Robbins of Lisbon. She passed away on Oct. 2, 1987.

“Mike” worked at International Paper Co. in Jay as a millwright in the maintenance department.

On Sept. 28, 1996, he married Diane Snell of Madison.

He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay; a member of the Quarter Century Club of IP, and a life member of Lane-Dube Amvets, Post 33 of Jay.

He enjoyed puttering, camping and fishing. His favorite spot to fish in the world was Moosehead Lake.

He is survived by his mother of Sabattus; his wife of Livermore; two sons and their wives, Thomas and Denise Phelan, of Sandwich, Mass., and Jeffery and Lauri Phelan, of Kennebunk; a brother, Peter and his wife, Renee Phelan, of Monmouth; a sister, Rochelle Lebel and her husband, Paul, of Litchfield; grandchildren, Cece, Hunter and Brandt; stepsons, Robert Hutchinson and his companion, Mary, of Acton, and James Hutchinson and his wife, Lisa, of Horn Lake, Miss.; and stepgrandchildren, Kimberly, Dillon, Kelsea, Tori and Clinton.
