LEWISTON – Lewiston legislators will hold their monthly office hours from 11 a.m. to noon today at the Lewiston Mall. The delegation will be available to answer questions on any topic related to state government and services. The delegation holds regular office hours on the first Saturday of every month during the legislative session in an effort to ensure accessibility to their constituents. The time is intended for constituents to consult with their state representatives on questions about state government, services available to them, bills being considered in the Legislature, and any other concerns they may have.

Sign-ups scheduled

WEST PARIS – Baseball and softball sign-ups will be held from 9 a.m. to noon today; from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6; and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 9, at the town office. Registration fees are $25 per child or $40 per family.

Monmouth budget

MONMOUTH – The School Committee will hold a public forum on the 2005-06 budget at 6 p.m. Monday, April 4, in the Monmouth Academy cafeteria. School Committee Chairman David Walker will make opening comments, followed by a presentation of revenues and budget by Superintendent Stephen Cottrell. A question-and-answer session and public comment will be held after the presentation. The hearing will be followed by a School Committee meeting in the principal’s office.

Reading series ends

PARIS – The One Book One Community: Oxford Hills Reads project will have a final event at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the Forum at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. This event celebrates the much-talked-about book “Ernie’s Ark” by Maine author Monica Wood, which has been the focus of the project. There will be a film presentation and story boards as well as a Readers Theater performance of the eighth chapter. The performance will be followed by a talk titled “What is Community?” by Bruce Hazard, director of Mountain Counties Heritage. Elementary plans

DIXFIELD – SAD 21 will hold a public hearing concerning its intention to design and construct a new elementary school. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Dirigo High School Student Community Center. The project will involve selecting a new site within its district for the building and play fields. A straw vote will be taken at the conclusion of the meeting to determine how the public feels about the proposed site. All citizens within SAD 21 towns are encouraged to attend and participate. The school board will be seeking feedback on the grade configuration of the new school and reconfiguration of the school district.
