In the last couple of days, I have read about all the success the Maineiacs hockey team has been having at the Colisee and also how well the Colisee has been doing this past year. This, of course, is great news for all hockey fans from Lewiston and the surrounding areas.

Success at the Colisee is due in part to a group of great people called volunteers. The ticket takers at the front doors, the ticket taker at the disabled entrance and the season ticket door. The people that work the four corners of the Colisee directing you to your seat and keeping people from walking in front of you during play. Volunteers. The ladies that check ID’s for underage drinkers. The people that work in the rear of the Colisee making sure that if you want to smoke you have the proper identification bracelet on. The people that hold the crowd back at the Maineiacs end of the ice. The people that work the home and visitors team benches. Volunteers! The people that make sure the aisles are kept clear in case of emergency. Volunteers! The people that make sure the people sitting in the newest section of the stands belong there. Volunteers!

A great group of people doing more then their share each and every game. I know I work with them every game. Volunteers! Try it sometime, you might like it. At the next game you attend, thank a volunteer.
