Artistic groups in Lewiston and Farmington are among the recipients of $147,000 in grants for Maine arts groups from the National Endowment of the Arts. In Farmington, the Alice James Poetry Cooperative received $25,000. The money will be used to support the publication and promotion of poetry titles chosen from two annual competitions. It will also aid publication of a new poetry collection by Donald Revell. Bates College in Lewiston was awarded $20,000 on behalf of the Bates Dance Festival to extend dancers’ residencies. National Endowment for the Arts matching grants help support projects that involve the creation and presentation of artworks. The other Maine recipients are: the Portland Stage Company, the Center for Cultural Exchange, the Bala Music and Dance Association, all in Portland, and the Eastern Maine Development District in Bangor.
