It’s a sad day when our governor does not listen to the people. Haven’t the citizens of our great state spoken?

At the outset, I will go on record that some of my best friends, clients and neighbors are gay and doing just fine in their lives and businesses. Maine has thriving communities, such as Hallowell and Ogunquit, where commerce is peaking with vitality, and it is common knowledge that the demographic is, in fact, pro-gay.

Frankly, I don’t see large-scale suffering going on in Maine. Currently, we all have equal opportunities that have been granted to us by the Bill of Rights.

In my opinion, good manners or emotions cannot be legislated. Where will it stop?

To every action, there are consequences. One that comes to mind – same-sex marriage and its effect on our current health insurance crisis. We are a guarantee issue state. The ramifications are threatening. Who will pay the premiums if there is an increase in AIDS victims?

We are asking for an onslaught of health-care welfare. Think about it.
