NEW GLOUCESTER – The Planning Board on Tuesday unanimously approved the second annual Thompson Family Bluegrass Festival, which will be in late June on Gloucester Hill.
Michael Thompson said the three-day event will be held from June 24 to 26 at Thompson’s Apple Orchard. It will feature nine bands from Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, South Carolina and Florida.
On-site parking and a satellite lot on Route 100 will be provided. A limited area designated for rough camping, and food and beverage concessions will be available.
The board agreed to grant the same conditions that were imposed last year.
These include:
• Noise levels will be checked during the festival and adjusted accordingly.
• No street parking on Gloucester Hill Road.
• Temporary warning signs are to be posted on Gloucester Hill Road to warn oncoming traffic of the event.
• The applicant is to return to the board if there are future changes to the festival.
A site walk and public hearing were waived.
Two site walks were scheduled on pending applications.
The first will be held at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday for Alton Warren and Shannon Ehrich, who are proposing to open a seven-guest-room bed and breakfast called The Chandler House in the historic lower village on the Intervale Road. If approved, this will be the first bed and breakfast in New Gloucester.
On April 14, the board will make a site visit at 5:15 p.m. to see Donald Leavitt’s proposed subdivision of a 25.33-acre parcel on the Snow Hill Road into 10 lots.
