BOOTHBAY – Fresh off her two National Scholastic Championship All-American racewalk performances at the one mile distance in early March, Lauren Forgues took the bronze medal in the Junior division of the US Team Trials for the Pan America Cup Team that will travel to Lima, Peru later this spring.

Under conditions of high and variable winds and cold temperatures which were raising havoc with the racewalkers, Forgues, a high school junior from Boothbay, walked a personal best 10 kilometer (6.2 miles) time of 55:20 to place as the third US finisher in a field of 17 of North America’s finest junior (age 14-19 inclusive) racewalkers. The field inlcuded walkers from Canada and Puerto Rico who were also vying for qualifying times to represent their countries in Peru.

Forgues has been working toward making the USA Junior National Track Team in a late June competition in California this summer, and has been training through the one mile distances as just a portion of her workouts, which are really aimed at 10 kilometer races.
