LIBERTY – Leon Alfred Soule, 69, of Reading, Mass., and Liberty, passed away Sunday, April 3, in Maine, with his family.
Born in Taunton, Mass., he was the loving son of the late Leon H. and Dorothy (Bickers) Soule. He was a warm and caring son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.
He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. post office in Reading and Middleboro, Mass. He was also employed by Reading Care Co. – Sunoco Station. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, National Guard and Air Force from 1953 to 1987.
He was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Passaconaway Golf Club and was a member of the Reading American Legion, D.A.V., Reading Knights of Columbus and Taunton Lodge of Elks.
Survivors include his children, Alan L. Soule and his wife, Joyce, of Wilton, Nancy E. Soule and her fianc, Christopher McEvoy, of Liberty, Jeffrey L. Soule of Liberty and Leslie A. Miller, of Rumford; grandchildren, David, Kara, Lynda, Jessica and James Soule and Christopher Soule-Miller; siblings, Alton and Dorothy Soule, of Rumford, R.I., William and Charlotte Soule, of Attleboro, Mass., William Thomas and Beverly Soule, of Duxbury, Mass., John Soule of Raynham, Mass., Charles and Lori Soule, of Rehoboth, Mass., and Kathryn Drapeau and husband, Roger; and many nieces, nephews and loving extended family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marcia (Harish) Soule-Hall; his second mother, Iva (Coutcher) Soule; and his son, James Michael Soule.
