RUMFORD – Pennacook Art Center will show three sculptures by Caitlin Waugh beginning Friday, April 8. The sculptures are carved from wood and were executed during her recent stay in Cuba. They depict three Cuban gestures.

Waugh is a Mountain Valley High School graduate and is a student at Hampshire College. Pennacook Art Center is located at 82 Congress St. Call 364-9972 for more information.

Softball meeting

RUMFORD – The Rumford Area Women’s Softball League will hold an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, in the Greater Rumford Community Center.

Representatives from teams that played last year plus new clubs are requested to attend. Last summer, 10 teams played an 18-game regular season from late May through early August on fields in Rumford, Mexico and Jay. All clubs then qualified for double elimination playoffs.

Academy session

DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Academy of Financial Responsibility meets the third Sunday of each month at 7 p.m. at Dixfield Common Baptist Church. Call 562-9259 for information.

Kids’ fun day

MEXICO – A fund-raising event, “Let’s Give Cancer the Boot,” a children’s fun day at God’s L’il Ranch being sponsored by Friend Forever Relay For Life team, will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Miller’s residence, 23 Worcester St.

Supervision is required. Cost is $5 each or three for $12, which includes face painting, barnyard games, horse rides, a hot dog, drink, popcorn, cotton candy and ice cream.

Those planning to be led on a horse will need to have a consent form signed, which will be available.

Parents can have pictures taken while riding a horse for an additional $5.
