LEWISTON – “Sanctus/Kedusha: An Interfaith Celebration of Holiness and Spring” will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge.

The service will include musical settings of the Christian Sanctus (holiness) liturgy, the Jewish Kedusha (holiness) liturgy, and a verse from the Book of Isaiah on which both liturgies are based.

The music will be presented by an interfaith choir led by Penny Appleby of High Street Congregational Church in Auburn.

The service will also include talks on the idea of holiness from the perspective of Judaism by Rabbi Hillel Katzir of Temple Shalom in Auburn; from a Christian perspective by the Rev. Paul Martz of High Street Congregational Church in Auburn; and from a Baha’i perspective by Nasser Rohani of the Lewiston-Auburn Baha’i Community.

The Rev. Robert Lariviere of Saints Peter and Paul Church will offer words of welcome, and the service will conclude with a brief tribute to the late Pope John Paul II.

The service is sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Interfaith Clergy Association.

It was originally scheduled to take place during the Many and One Coalition’s Two Weeks of Community, Diversity and Justice last January, but was postponed due to the weather.
