AUBURN – There were no major upsets as playoffs began this week in the Auburn Rec Men’s Slowdown Basketball League.

Rocky Mountain Oysters (9) pulled the only minor surprise, edging Sunryse Productions (8) in the opening game, 77-70. Jon Wallingford poured in 38 points for the Oysters. Dan Goggin added 22. Ben Lachance led Sunryse with 22 markers. Steve Bell was next with 13.

Scott Thayer Auto (3) nipped L-A Dox (6) 48-46 as Chris Randall netted 22 and James Whirley 12. Verne Paradie paced Dox with 19. Mark Stubbs added 17.

GE (4) outlasted West Shore (5) 62-54. Frank Perry led the Bulbmen with 22. Carter Edwards contributed 11. Larry Jackson scored 20 for the Westies. Bob Bowie added 17.

Fitness World (1) rolled past the Rocky Mountain Oysters 63-44 as Christian Gurney netted 14, Mike Lance 13, and Jeff Smith and T.C. Mathews 10 each. Wallingford again paced the Oysters with 22. Goggin added 13.

Brew Crew (2) knocked off the L-A Orphans (7) 68-55 as Keith Danner collected 21. Bill Martin added 17 and Matt Sellinger 10. Jared Kuvajo led Orphans with 13. Jake St. Hilaire added 12 and Dan Rottenberg 11.

L-A Dox eliminated Sunryse Productions 58-44 as Stubbs and Kirk Silver each popped 15. Jason Rasztawicki added 9. Bell tallied 14 for Sunryse. Lachance and Randy Jackson added 11 each.

Playoffs continue next week as follows: Monday, winners’ bracket, 6:00, Fitness World vs GE; 7:15, Thayer Auto vs Brew Crew. Wednesday, losers’ bracket, 6:00, L-A Dox vs L-A Orphans; 7:15, Rocky Mountain Oysters s West Shore.
