On a weekend filled with news about Pope John Paul II, I was appalled by the lack of concern and poor judgment used by Sun Journal Kalle Oakes in his column April 3. But then again, one would have to consider the source. That is one column I usually do not bother reading, and Sunday’s commentary re-emphasizes my reasons why.
For one to refer to any team, be it college, professional, Little League or whatever, as Satan’s favorite baseball team is totally irresponsible and shows lack of good judgment. How can someone, supposedly in a professional field as a writer, be so callous and use such poor judgment, especially where the headlines are all about the current happenings with our pope and Christianity. Is Oakes an expert on Satanism?
I think the Sun Journal needs to take a better look at what is being printed in their paper. The Sun Journal needs to be held accountable and responsible for input by its writers.
If that’s the best Oakes can come up with, maybe he needs to revisit his profession.
