SALEM, N.H. (AP) – A state representative was arraigned Monday on charges that he hit an election official.

Christopher Doyle, a Windham Republican, is accused of pushing Gail Webster, 61, as Town Meeting ballots were being counted March 8.

In court documents, Webster says she heard Doyle’s father arguing with Selectman Bruce Breton and blaming him for his son’s failure to win re-election to the town board. Webster says she was looking for a police officer to stop the argument when Doyle punched her in the chest.

Doyle, 26, was arrested last month and charged with felony assault

Doyle didn’t enter a plea Monday at Salem District Court. Another hearing was scheduled for April 27.
