AUBURN – In addition to the ongoing civil case against him, Eugene Jordan Jr. faces a criminal charge for an unrelated incident.

The 53-year-old Turner man was charged with assault last November after he allegedly pushed another man and knocked him to the ground.

Police say Jordan, who lives on Snell Hill Road, went to another man’s house on Nov. 20, 2004, looking for his son. A confrontation broke out, and Jordan allegedly pushed the man to the ground after swinging at him and missing.

It would have been a misdemeanor charge, but it was elevated to a felony because Jordan has two previous assault convictions over the past 10 years, according to court documents.

Jordan pleaded not guilty to the charge last Friday and was allowed to remain free until his trial.

If convicted of the assault charge, he could be sentenced to up to five years in prison.
