A Homeland Security grant of $12,250 will fund a new 45-kilowatt, single-phase generator for the Town Office. The generator, which is already on order, is being purchased from Milton Equipment in Concord, N.H., and is expected to be installed within two months. The town will be responsible for installation and associated electrical work.

Monmouth: Multi-town waste day set for May
A regional household hazardous waste collection will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Augusta Armory on Western Avenue in Augusta.
The communities of Augusta, Gardiner, Hallowell, Manchester, Monmouth, Readfield, Richmond, Windsor and Winthrop are participating.
More detailed information on which items can be taken to the dropoff are available at the Town Office. Information is also posted on the city of Augusta Web page, www.ci.augusta.me.us, under City Departments, Solid Waste.
Lisbon: School resignations announced
High school English teacher Kenneth Houle and science teacher James Drummond will retire at the end of the school year. Sharon Hole, a guidance counselor at Lisbon Community School, will also retire.
In addition, school officials have accepted two resignations: Sybill Brewer, special education technician I at Lisbon Community School; and Brenda Breton, a special education technician I at the high school.

Lisbon: Few candidates for town openings
There will be only one contested race in the upcoming municipal election, said Town Clerk Twila Lycette.
Former Selectman Ed Madden and Steven E. Curtis will vie for a single opening on the Board of Selectmen vacated by L. Scott D’Amboise, who is not running again.
Retired teacher Prudence Grant is running unopposed for the school committee seat now held by Norma Wells, who is not seeking re-election. Incumbent Water Commissioner James Gurney Jr. is unopposed for re-election and there are no candidates for a three-year seat on the Library Governing Board.
The election will take place May 14.
