LACONIA, N.H. (AP) – For the second time in four months the state has ordered contractors to stop building a 171-lot residential community, saying the work has sent runoff into Lake Winnipesaukee.

The Department of Environmental Services also ordered Atom Contracting immediately to stabilize the property.

The company was hit with a similar order in December after officials saw sediment from the construction site entering the lake.

Atom took corrective action that led the environmental services department to lift the order in January.

The company has 30 days to appeal the latest order.
