PORTLAND (AP) – Brandon Moss and Sheldon Fulse hit back-to-back homers and Dustin Pedroia drove in two runs as the Portland Sea Dogs won their sixth straight by beating the New Britain Rock Cats 6-4 on Wednesday in the Eastern League.
Alex Romero homered for the Rock Cats and Selwyn Langaigne had an RBI double.
The Rock Cats (2-4) led 2-1 after two innings. Langaigne’s double and Romero’s homer were the key hits for New Britain, while Pedroia’s RBI single drove in Portland’s run.
The Sea Dogs (6-0) rallied to go ahead in the bottom of the third then took command of the game in the fourth. Pedroia’s second RBI single tied it and Jared Sandberg’s double plated the go-ahead run.
After Moss and Fulse made it 5-2 with homers in the fourth, David Murphy’s single drove in Portland’s final run in the fifth.
New Britain added two runs in the seventh on two singles, two walks and a fielder’s choice.
