ATLANTA – Jose Guillen homered twice, becoming the first player in the major leagues with five this season, and the Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves 11-4 Wednesday before heading home for their first game at RFK Stadium.

After winning the last two games of the three-game series, the Nationals play their home opener tonight, the capital’s first regular-season game since the expansion Senators became the Texas Rangers after the 1971 season. President Bush, the Rangers’ former owner, is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Tomo Ohka (1-1) won despite walking six in six innings. He gave up three runs and four hits, leaving with a 5-3 lead.

Padres, Cubs split

CHICAGO – Mark Prior was a success in his season debut, while Kerry Wood struggled again.

Prior pitched six shutout innings in his first game of the season and Derrek Lee had five RBIs, leading the Chicago Cubs over the San Diego Padres 8-3 Wednesday for a doubleheader split.

Wood gave up three home runs in the opener, including one to Geoff Blum leading off the game, as the Padres won 8-3.

Prior (1-0) made just one start in spring training and went on the disabled list due to right elbow inflammation. He got hit hard last week in a minor league rehabilitation start but, backed by a quick 7-0 lead Wednesday, he allowed four hits, struck out six and walked one, throwing 92 pitches.

Marlins 4, Phillies 0

MIAMI – Dontrelle Willis threw a three-hitter for his second consecutive shutout, and the Florida Marlins used another pitching gem to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 Wednesday.

Willis (2-0) beat Washington with a five-hit shutout last Friday, and his latest performance dropped the Marlins’ team ERA to 1.36, best in the major leagues.

They have four complete games, while the other 29 teams combined for two through Tuesday.

Florida completed a 5-4 homestand, winning series against Washington and Philadelphia. The Marlins have outscored opponents 38-2 in their victories.

Reds 6, Cardinals 5

ST. LOUIS – Mark Mulder flopped again in his second outing for the St. Louis Cardinals, with Austin Kearns hitting a three-run homer and Joe Randa getting three hits Wednesday in the Cincinnati Reds’ 6-5 win.

Matt Belisle (1-1), starting because Ramon Ortiz was scratched before the game because of a groin injury, got his second career win, his first since 2003. He pitched five strong innings in his first major league start.

D-backs 5, Rockies 2

PHOENIX – Shawn Estes pitched seven strong innings, Tony Clark doubled in two runs and the Arizona Diamondbacks handed the Colorado Rockies their seventh loss in a row 5-2 on Wednesday.

Mets 1, Astros 0

NEW YORK – Kazuhisa Ishii matched Roger Clemens for seven innings and Jose Reyes hit an RBI single in the 11th inning Wednesday night to lead the New York Mets over the Houston Astros 1-0.

After Victor Diaz walked, late-inning defensive replacement Chris Woodward sacrificed him to second. Reyes then hit a bouncer that Astros reliever Dan Wheeler (0-1) reached up and deflected with his glove, but the ball continued past second.

Shortstop Adam Everett dived and also got a glove on it. Second baseman Chris Burke made a weak throw home from short center field, and Diaz scored without a play at the plate.
