LIVERMORE FALLS – A 26-year-old Livermore Falls man was indicted on nine charges, including three sex-related felony charges, by an Androscoggin County grand jury, police said Thursday.
An arrest warrant was issued for Lawrence Burnell, 26, of 121 Main St. after police received information March 28 that a man was having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl, according to Livermore police officer Maurice Drouin.
Drouin said he conducted an investigation and gave his report to the Androscoggin County district attorney’s office, and the case was presented to the grand jury last week, which handed up the nine-count indictment.
Officer Joseph Sage arrested Burnell Saturday on three counts each of sexual abuse of a minor, aggravated furnishing of marijuana, and furnishing liquor to a minor.
The alleged incidents happened between November and March, Drouin said.
Burnell was initially held on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 worth of real estate.
After going to court, the bail was reduced and Burnell posted $540 on Tuesday to be released.
