BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College announces that Amanda C. Baillargeon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Baillargeon of Lewiston, was named College Buddy Director of the Year Massachusetts by Best Buddies Massachusetts. Best Buddies Colleges is the premise upon which the international organization of Best Buddies was formed.

One aspect of the Best Buddies Program is to pair people with intellectual disabilities in one-to-one friendships with college students. College chapters are active on more than 360 college campuses worldwide. Each chapter is a registered student organization and is led by a College Buddy director. The director is responsible for running the chapter on campus.

In making the announcement, program manager Laura Shufelt said, “The award recognizes your outstanding work this year and commitment to strengthening your chapter. It’s amazing what a difference your hard work has made in just one year! There are some very strong CBDs and chapters within Massachusetts, so you should be very proud of your accomplishments.”

Upon receiving the award, Baillargeon said, “It is very rewarding to see that Endicott College’s Best Buddies is being recognized. I owe a lot of my success to the other seven students who are part of this wonderful experience. I am honored to be chosen College Buddy Director of the Year.”

Baillargeon is a junior majoring in liberal studies with a minor in elementary education. At Endicott, she has been involved in student activities, Student Government, and the Education Club, and she has been a resident assistant and class president.
