CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A spokesman for embattled Lakes Region Greyhound Park in Belmont said about six bids were submitted to buy the track by Monday’s deadline.
Last month, Attorney General Kelly Ayotte said the track was “intimately connected” to an alleged illegal gambling ring. Two former track executives were charged and have pleaded innocent. The owners have denied any involvement.
The track also is at risk of losing it license, but the owners hope a quick sale will derail that.
On Friday the track told the Pari-Mutuel Commission one potential buyer had offered $3.3 million.
Track spokesman Rick Newman said Monday evening that among the bids was “a distinct higher bid than the others.”
The track is assessed at $2.9 million, but Newman has said it is worth more.
Newman did not disclose the amount of the bids or the bidders. He said the track is going through the submissions to sort out the highest qualified bidder before making any further announcements.
