AUBURN – Edward B. Oldham, 73, of 5 Colonial Way, Auburn, died Sunday, April 17, at home, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston, on Aug. 1, 1931, the son of Cora Oldham Packard and Perley Edward Oldham. He lived his entire life in this community. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1949 and attended Bryant and Stratton Business School in Boston.

He served in Germany with the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean conflict. On May 29, 1954, he married Lucille Chase, and last year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

He was employed as a salesman for the C.F. Chase Co., General Motors and Employers Insurance of Wausau. In 1977, he retired after working for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years.

He was a member of Tranquil Lodge 29, the Kora Temple Shrine and the Kora Arab Patrol. He was also a past chairman of the Shrine Circus.

He received great enjoyment from watching his grandchildren in their various extracurricular activities. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He was also an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing bridge in recent years.

He is survived by his loving wife of Auburn; daughter, Karen and husband, David Theriault; daughter, Susan and husband, Paul Turcotte, all of Auburn; brother, Kenneth Oldham and wife, Marylyn, of Bloomington, Minn.; stepbrother, Bruce Packard and wife, Nancy, of Bedford, N.H.; grandchildren, Kyle and Jeremy Theriault, and Lindsey Rogers; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; stepfather, Ernest Packard; stepbrother, Lawrence Packard; and stepsister, Beatrice Packard.
