FARMINGTON – Farmington Emblem Club 460 met April 7 when secret sisters were revealed and gifts exchanged. Kathy Sylvain will be taking over as chairwoman for the secret sisters. Sandy Knight and Linda Dunham were in charge this past year.

New president Quinnale Kinsey was in charge of the meeting. Americanism chairwoman Nancy Chase announced there would be a Chinese auction in May as her fund-raising project.

Shannon Smith reported 69 girls registered for cheering last fall and 54 for the competition teams during the winter. Lesa Thompkins will chair the youth cheerleading this year.

End of the year reports were given. Joey Kinsey won the mystery gift and Diana Oliver the 50-50 raffle.

Donations will be made to the Farmington Legion Auxiliary for a girl to attend Girls State, to Wilton Boy Scout Troop 518 to help send the troop to a jamboree in Virginia this summer, Wilton Story Camp, Maine Elks Youth Fest taking place in Augusta in August, to a club member who was reported sick, to the Special Olympics for the orange team, to a club member whose husband is ill and hospitalized and to a family where the husband and wife are both ill and unable to work at this time.

Donations will be made to Walk America for Claudette Merchant, who will walk in Farmington, and to Leslie Bull, who will walk in Livermore Falls.

The state convention will be held at the West Farmington Elks Lodge the first weekend in June with Farmington Emblem Club as hosts. Connie Small, a member and past president of the local club will be installed as state president on Sunday, June 5. Members were reminded to send in their registration forms to Diana Jahn before May 10th.

The new Elk and Emblem music show is in rehearsal and will be held for the public on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7. Tickets are $10 each and the money will go to various charities for the Elks and Emblem clubs.

Steve Bull will be the emcee and disc jockey. Dancing will follow the show.
