NORWAY – Frances Davis Alexander of Paris Hill, passed away on April 12, in Norway after a long illness.

She was born in Portland, in 1924, the daughter of Roger Davis and Dorothea Carter Davis. She grew up in Paris Hill, New Jersey and Ohio, graduating from Walnut Hills high school and the University of Cincinnati.

She worked as a director’s assistant in New York City in the early days of live television and also as an administrative assistant in the oil business in Midland, Texas, and Oklahoma City, Okla. In 1955, she married A. K. Alexander and moved to Boston, where she had two children, earned teaching credentials from Boston University and started a nursery school.

The family moved to Paris Hill in 1967. She taught first grade at the Mildred Fox School in South Paris for four years, then in West Paris for 17 years. She retired in 1988 and was active in the Pine Needles Quilting Group.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Alexander of Yarmouth; son, John Alexander of Concord, N.H.; granddaughter, Neelam Alexander; niece, Nancy B. Boyles; nephew, John Eric Bucher; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Jarvis; her sister, Nancy; and her husband, Alex.
