SABATTUS – Romeo J. Roberge, 83, of Sabattus, died Monday evening, April 18, at his residence following a short illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on July 7, 1921, the son of Mederic and Wilhemine (Ouellette) Roberge and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Lewiston schools.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a corporal in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

He was employed as a truck driver for Central Distributors starting in 1955 and retiring in 2003. He enjoyed working around the house. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He married the former Germaine Ste. Marie on April 22, 1946, and she died on Nov. 24, 2002.

He is survived by three daughters, Joline Lafrance, Liliette Sands and her husband, Danny, and Nancy Roberge, all of Sabattus; four grandchildren, Ronald Lafrance of Lewiston, Steven Lafrance of Augusta, Timothy Sands of Litchfield and Andrea Stevens and her husband, Jeremie, of Litchfield; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Lafrance of Lisbon and Kristina Lafrance of Lewiston; and one brother, Louis Philip Roberge of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Roberge who died in 1987.
