This is in response to the letter from Scott Kaufman that was printed April 17 about state spending. I fully agree with his statements. However, I do not think the problem of out-of-control spending can be fixed because of the deep-rooted political agenda of the majority party. The problem exists not only in Augusta, but also in the larger cities in this state. It is tax and spend; same old, same old.
Legislators have a bad hearing problem and the only way to cure that is at the ballot box.
If Democrats cannot pass new taxes or user fees, they will borrow from the next two or three generations.
It may be time to clean house and start over. We cannot afford this way of doing business anymore.
