VIENNA – The cause of a fire that destroyed most of a Vienna home and attached garage Tuesday has been ruled accidental, a state fire investigator said Thursday.
The fire at the homestead at Bean Farm and Tower roads started in the garage, Maine Fire Sgt. Jennifer Mills said.
The homestead is owned by Carol O’Connell. The two occupants, including O’Connell, were reported to be staying with friends.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of an electrical malfunction in the area of origin,” Mills said. “The electrical malfunction would have been in the fencing and in the electrical system. The origin of fire was in the garage in a corner, and there was wiring in that vicinity that went out to an electric fence.”
