Dear Sun Spots: I have worked at the Good Shepard Food Bank for 1½ years and it has helped me a lot being a single mother. I used to get transportation from Community Concepts Peer power program but they are out of funds. I am running out of basic needs since I have no way to get there. I am legally blind and would appreciate a way to volunteer my time three times a week. I am on a limited income so I cannot take a taxi there. Is there anyone who could please help me get to and from the food bank and help bring boxes into the apartment? I would appreciate it a lot. I can be reached at (207) 786-2592. Thank you. – Judy Maier, Lewiston.
Dear Sun Spots: A couple of weeks ago you published phone numbers for an organization holding a yard sale in May. I believe it was Tommy’s Feline Feral Friends. I have items to donate, but I lost the phone numbers. Could you please publish the numbers again? Thank you. – Kelly Rand, Greene.
Answer: The following item was published in the April 8 Sun Spots column:
Tommy’s Feral Feline Friends is looking for salable items to include in a yard sale. Proceeds help buy food for the animals. Dear Sun Spots: Could you please tell me what’s happened to Mark Persky on WBLM’s morning show? I really enjoyed him. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: The following appeared in the March 26 Sun Spots column:
In addition to responses from readers, according to a Portland Press Herald article dated Feb. 17 and written by staff writer Ray Routhier, Persky went off the air suddenly in late January and neither he nor the station are saying why or when he might be back. It appears no on-air announcement to listeners was made about his absence. He had been at the station for nearly 28 years.
